It’s a great week for film in Royal Oak
Washington Street is closed all day today to enact a gay pride parade for the Sigourney Weaver production of “Prayers for Bobby” (my previous post about the film is here). I’ll head down later and snap some photos; check back! (Update: Yep, the photos are here and here.)
If you’re into filmmaking, there’s also a meet and greet for the Detroit 48 Hour Film Project here this week. Wednesday, 8:00 pm, Royal Oak Brewery. I plan to be there; if a crew needs a little help, maybe I can drive or haul or type or paint or fill in the background as an extra. It sounds like a lot of fun and a way to bring more positive attention to this area.
Just want to watch a film? The Royal Oak Public Library is offering a free screening of Gigi tonight at 6:00. Leslie Caron at her most charming. Try to overlook how creepy Maurice Chevalier’s “Thank Heaven for Little Girls” can seem when viewed through 2008 eyes.
