Red Wings take the first game!

Was nice to see Danny Cleary from Harbour Grace score the third goal as the Detroit Red Wings took the lead in the Stanley Cup finals against Pittsburgh tonight. I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for Newfoundland — I love the music, adore the people I met when I visited, and find the island’s landscape and history bewitching. Hope Cleary gets his name on the Cup this year and everyone back home can rant and roar to their hearts’ content.

My husband is a lifelong Red Wings fan and I hate those fucking Penguins. I never much cared about them until the Winter Classic this year. I’m a Buffalo gal by birth and a Sabres fan by choice, and it was revolting to hear the network announcers jerking off over Sidney Crosby nearly continuously during the coverage. Ooops, is my language getting a bit colorful? Consider it the result of watching almost three hours of hockey with my very enthusiastic fellow.

Speaking of colorful, anyone know where I can get the fabric from Don Cherry’s jacket tonight? It would make a great summer tablecloth.
