Pimpin’ for lunch money ain’t easy
Michelle Malkin has a comprehensive post about a recent ad for Beyoncé’s new line of clothing for the well-dressed kindergarten whore (via Rachel Lucas). Oh where to start?
Look, I was a kid in the 1970s. I wore crop tops and short shorts and minidresses when they were the style (and probably, knowing my mother, long afterwards). I also wore preppy chic when it hit middle school and nouveau prairie in high school. They were dumb trends that left me with albums full of hideous, embarrassing photographs. And sure, some showed off a few inches of my torso or a length of leg that could be provocative to someone so inclined. That wasn’t the intent; they were designed to be comfortable in hot summers before air conditioning became omnipresent.
It’s more difficult to figure out the intent behind dressing little girls in stiletto heels, skin-tight pants, and clothes that give off a distinct aroma of hoochie stank. After poking around the web site for the “fashion” line Dereon, I wonder if the models in the ad aren’t actually dressed in miniature versions of the adult clothing line, perhaps an ill-advised attempt to provoke controversy and comment. The clothes for girls on the Dereon site are freakin’ ugly and absurdly overpriced, but they’re not slutty. Plus, there’s this previous ad for the girls’ line:
The girl at the table is wearing more makeup than Tammy Faye, but otherwise the outfits look reasonably modest, if unattractive. Perhaps the baby whore ad is a gimmick?
I hope so.
